The candy shell prevented the chocolate from melting and made a convenient snack. When he came back to New Jersey Forrest Mars began to market the candies to everyone! Soon M&Ms became a popular candy, thanks to their no-melt candy shell, bright colors and delicious taste. In the 1990’s M&Ms launched a new marketing campaign that features funny M&M characters, each with their own personality.
